Track improvement works associated with the installation of Overhead Power and increased train frequencies on the Core Valley Lines (CVL). Additional construction track works to complete the overall scope of the project on the Cardiff and Merthyr (CAM) lines, City Lines (CTL), Rhymney Line (RHY) and on the Cardiff Bay Line (BAY). These works include:

Re-ballast and rerail

Track realignment and line speed improvements

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

As part of the track improvement works associated with the installation of Overhead Power and increased train frequencies on the Core Valley Lines (CVL), there is a requirement to provide additional track works to complete the overall scope of the project.

There is a specific requirement to construct track works on the Cardiff and Merthyr (CAM) lines, City Lines (CTL), Rhymney Line (RHY) and on the Cardiff Bay Line (BAY). These works include.

Achievement of level boarding at platforms

Replacement of existing buffer stops

Re-ballast and rerail

Track Lowers

Track realignment and line speed improvements

TfW's appointed designer Amey, will complete the design of all schemes. TfW will provide rail haulage for the works.

The Authority is calling for expressions of interest to be received no later than: 31/01/25.

Subject to sufficient interest, the Authority may place a further notice calling for competition. Form of contract applicable would be NEC 4 Option A (Fixed Price).

Estimated timescales: The contract period would be 02/06/25 - 31/12/26.

two.2.14) Additional information

TfW will have provisionally secured track access and train haulage for early works, which may cause potential constraints. Other improvement works will be underway on the CVL network and the successful supplier would be required to work alongside existing contractors. The interface with other contractors will be managed by TfW.
