Glasgow City Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified contractor to carry out public realm improvement works in the Argyle Street East area of the city. These works include reconstruction of footways and carriageways to high quality public realm. The works form part of the wider Avenues Programme taking place within the City Centre

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Argyle Street East Avenue runs from Union Street, along Trongate to High Street. It includes some limited road rationalisation works around Moir Street. The works proposed include the reconstruction of footways and carriageways to high quality public realm including the creation of new cycleways, level crossing points and blue/green infrastructure. The condition along this section of Argyle Street is characterised by street access retail units, along with hospitality venues and other offices/businesses. There are some residential and cultural venues along Trongate, with new developments focused around this section. A Network Rail tunnel runs the length of the street, and Argyle Street is a busy route for public transport particularly local buses and taxis
