two.1.4) Short description

NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB (the Commissioner) is seeking to secure a provider who has the capability and capacity to deliver Urgent Care services in Reading, in line with the specified requirements.

The aim of the service is to improve same day access in Berkshire West through the provision of a primary care-led service located at Royal Berkshire Hospital. The service will provide a seamless transition between in and out of hours services and treat patients directed to the service from multiple sources including NHS 111 services, referral from primary care, self-presenters and from the Emergency Department at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The level of clinical service provided will be comparable to the service received by patients attending general practice primary care settings.

The Contract will be for an initial term of 21 months with an option to extend for a further 3 months at the sole discretion of the Commissioner. Services are currently scheduled to commence on 01 July 2025.

The Commissioner has an indicative total funding envelope available of £1,800,000 per annum, excluding VAT. The total indicative contract value for the 21-month contract is £2,847,000. At the end of the initial term the Commissioner will have an extension option for a further 3 month available which will be awarded at their discretion, giving a total indicative contract value of £3,297,000 exclusive of VAT over 2 years if the full contract term is fulfilled.

TUPE is likely to apply, and TUPE information will be available on request.

This exercise is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioner.
