​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​As part of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service's (NIFRS) operational fire fighters duties, they have to enter operational incidents wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA). This system allows the firefighter to breathe clean air which enables them to carry out rescues or to fight fires in burning or smoke filled buildings. Each BA set has a cylinder that contains clean air; the cylinder only has a limited amount of clean air so fire fighters are restricted on the length of time they can operate effectively in this environment before they have to exit the building and change the cylinder. This contract will enable vital repairs to be undertaken on this Apparatus.

This Contract is for a period of 10 years with no option to extend. The contract commenced on 18th November 2024. The Client cannot guarantee any particular level of business within the Contract. Any information on value of business are for guidance only and no guarantee is given as to the exact value under this Contract. Any levels, or aggregate values of goods, referred to are indicative only and shall not be binding on the Client.

Explanation:

This DAC is required and in accordance with Exclusive Rights 32(2)(b)(iii) Reasons.

The BA sets are manufactured by a company called Draeger Safety UK and they are the only people authorised to carry out any servicing or repairs on this piece of equipment, also only parts supplied by Draeger Safety UK can be fitted to the BA sets therefore they are the sole supplier for the Service and Repair of the equipment and will ensure that NIFRS can continue to keep this critical piece of operational equipment serviceable and fully operational.
