two.1.4) Short description

Medway Council is procuring a single Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) for

the people of Medway. We are looking for a provider that can deliver a cost effective and

innovative service within the allocated budget.

The aim of the service is to develop an innovative response to place-based services alongside

the core business to supply, deliver, fit, install, uninstall, adjust, repair, refurbish, collect,

decontaminate, recycle, and dispose of loaned equipment requisitioned by authorised

prescribers. Some components of the service include, but are not limited to:

Procuring equipment (standard stock and complex equipment) for both adults and

paediatric service users as requested by prescribers to the standards and guidance as set by

the MHRA and in accordance with all National and Local policies, procedures and guidelines

regarding the use supply, collection, reuse and maintenance of community loaned

equipment. Use appropriate methods of decontamination in accordance with Community

Equipment Code of Practice Scheme.

Providing on and off-site technical advice, working with practitioners, clinicians, and trusted

assessors, attending joint visits, and advising clinicians on all aspects of minor adaptations

and technicalities around loaned equipment.

Support the patients long term plan by helping people to live independently at home for

longer; partnership working with volunteer agencies and bring together different

professionals to coordinate care better.

Provide a single point of contact for service users to track equipment standard, special,

recycled, complex items and their progress and availability.
