NHS England would like to identify providers who are interested in the provision of Specialised Paediatric whole-body MRI (WBMRI) Surveillance for Cancer Predisposing Syndromes.
The key objective of this market engagement process is to obtain relevant feedback and information from the market to understand the level of capability, capacity, competition and will help inform the commissioning strategy in relation to these Services.
Inherited cancer predisposition syndromes are genetic conditions that increase the risk of developing one or more types of cancer. This service will focus on three rare inherited cancer predisposition syndromes; Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS), constitutional mismatch repair deficiency syndrome (CMMRD) and rhabdoid tumour predisposition syndrome (RTPS). Published clinical guidelines for these conditions recommend the use of regular whole-body MRI (WBMRI) with the aim of detecting cancers at an early stage.
The overall aim of MRI surveillance for children with cancer predisposing syndromes is to provide WBMRI screening for patients with LFS, CMMRD and RTPS. The provision of expanded capacity for WBMRI scanning aims to improve clinical care of individuals once an inherited cancer predisposition has been diagnosed.
The anticipated contract duration for this service is 3 years, with the Commissioner having the option to extend the contract up to a further 2 years (maximum contract duration 5 years).
