This Challenge is to find a solution to managing the demand on rural grids in more innovative ways could help to reduce the cost of grid infrastructure and facilitate energy transition to net zero.

There are separate contracts for Phase 1 and Phase 2, both covered under this Notice.

The funding for Phase 1 is GBP100k which is to be divided as necessary (unequally) between up to 4 projects. The contract for Phase 1 will terminate upon completion (31st March 2025).

Subject to projects being taken forward to Phase 2 and additional funding of up to GBP500k being secured, there will be a restricted bidding process between Phase 1 suppliers for the delivery of Phase 2.
