two.1.4) Short description

Key points to note about the service and our requirements:

The Psychological Wellbeing Service will complement the wider offer for early intervention, to facilitate choice and increase capacity. The service will be provided to children and young people aged from 10-18 years old and for parenting interventions from 5 years upwards.

By expanding the existing early intervention offer and integrating this sub-contracting arrangement into the wider early intervention system in Hull and East Riding, we aim to stem the flow of referrals into core CAMHS. This will reduce the existing waiting list, alongside ensuring C&YP and their families receive timely support and intervention around their needs as they arise, reducing long waits and potential exacerbation of needs. New referrals deemed appropriate for low intensity interventions will be seen by the service. It is our intention that this will facilitate a quicker response for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs and free up capacity within the CAMHS service to respond to an ongoing increase in urgent complex referrals which is having an impact on waiting times.

The Psychological Wellbeing Service offer will be different in each locality. Hull requires a Low Intensity (LI) CBT service, delivered by Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP) and East Riding requires a Counselling Service. Both services will provide an offer of in person and virtual appointments, depending on client preference.

All individuals referred to the Psychological Wellbeing Service by the Commissioner’s Contact Point or Mental Health Support Teams will be contacted by the sub-contractor within 5 working days of referral, offered an appointment for Initial Assessment to take place within 4 weeks of referral and Commence Treatment within 8 weeks of referral. The appointment may be online or in a venue where the young person feels safe, private and comfortable. The sub-contractor will be responsible for provision of accommodation, technological support and any costs associated.
