South Gloucestershire Council invites tenders from contractors to process and recycle (and potentially collect) the mechanical sweeping waste. The Council operates two transfer stations, but anticipates only requiring collection from one of the sites (should the contractor collect the waste). Initial contract length is 24 months with the possibility of a further 12 months extension

This contract concerns Mechanical Sweeping Waste arising during both routine and ad hoc mechanical sweeping activities that take place across South Gloucestershire Council's streets, parks footpaths, pedestrianised and similar areas.

The composition of Mechanical Sweeping waste varies according to seasonality, annual holidays, local events and similar activities. Mechanical Sweeping Waste collected during autumn months contains increased levels of organic waste. Mechanical Sweeping Waste from high footfall areas such as central urban areas may have increased levels of items such as bottles, cans, other litter items, etc. within it.

The Council operates two transfer stations, but anticipates only requiring collection from one of the sites (should the contractor collect the waste).
