two.1.4) Short description

South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Contractors to provide SCDC with road and paving works. Before we go to tender for this requirement, we are looking to understand the level of interest in the market for this opportunity. Should we be happy that there's a sufficient level of interest in the market we will look to go to tender for this requirement early in the new year.

Description of Requirement:

The road and paving works required include, but not be limited to, car parks, footpaths, unadopted roads, dropped curbs and cycle ways. There could also be the occasional requirement for drainage works to be undertaken. Depending on planning permissions, these works can be undertaken via tarmacking, block paving or concrete. Use of gravel also varies depending on planning permission. There will be a need for ramped sections.

When we go to tender for this requirement we will be letting a Small Works Framework Contract (SWFC) that will comprise of 4 Contractors appointed to a below WTO threshold Framework Contract and the 4 Contractors appointed to the SWFC will be the 4 highest scoring bidders following the scoring and evaluation process. The estimated contract value is indicative only and does not guarantee any volume or value.

Each job (referred to as a call off contract) will be subject to a further competition. Each of the Contractors who are accepted on to the SWFC will be invited to submit a bid for each job. The further competitions will be undertaken using email or the electronic procurement system.
