two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB) is one of seven health boards in Wales and is responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of around 385,600 people living in HDUHB and for enabling the provision of high quality, effective healthcare services. With the very rural nature of HDUHB, the majority of local services are provided locally, through General Practitioners (GP’s) and other primary care contracted services, community hospitals and community services.

HDUHB is seeking bids from forward thinking and innovative partnerships wishing to provide general medical services in both Cross Hands and Tumble (in line with the current service provision) either under the auspices of a General Medical Services (GMS) or Alternative Provider of Medical Services (APMS) contract.

Cross Hands and Tumble Medical Partnership has a list size of approximately 7,600 which falls just below the Welsh national average of 8,300 patients and serves a semi-rural and rural population in the predominantly agricultural county of Carmarthenshire in the Amman Gwendraeth Cluster, and is located approximately 10 miles from each of its three nearest towns: Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llanelli, benefiting from good public transport links. The Practice main site is at Tumble Surgery which is owned by the current partnership and the branch site is in a Health Board owned Health Centre in Cross Hands.
