The HyDUS initiative is an energy-storage demonstration project in which UKAEA is a key collaborator alongside other organisations. The technical process will include storage of radioactive materials and flammable gases; it will be housed inside a nuclear-rated laboratory within a specialised ISO freight container. UKAEA are seeking to engage with specialist manufacturers of these freight containers to develop a container design complete with suitable operating systems including radiological extract ventilation and safety monitoring systems. Expressions of interest are sought via this Prior Information Notice (PIN).

This particular PIN relates to the Containerised laboratory required to house the other components, there may be a requirement for two laboratories, one at Culham and the other at a University of Bristol site. If this is the case we intend to conduct one procurement for both organisations.
