The 86 / 86A-bus route has been prioritised for investment. The commission has been split into key tasks; 1 to 4 forming the critical path through the project, and 5 to 7 requiring input across the life of the project, as follows:

1. Analysis and validation of existing work (1 month)

2. Preliminary design (9 months)

3. Detailed design (6 months)

4. Tender support (2 months)

5. Business Case development

6. Public and stakeholder engagement

7. Optional tasks, including modelling and appraisal
