two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The SRP Products Procurement is for manufacturing capability to support the design, manufacture, and supply of SRP products. There are five SRP Products in early design maturity, including three stainless steel containers that make up the final long-term storage package and two stainless steel/polymer consumable products that are process enablers required to safely operate the plant.

The SRP Containers consist of the following three sub-groups:
- Inner Can Body and Lid;
- Intermediate Can Body and Hollow Plug Assembly; and
- Outer Can Body and Lid.

The SRP Consumables consist of the following two sub-groups:
- SRP Package Carrier (SPC) Body and Lid; and
- Sphincter Plug Body and Lid.

SRP Products is a pilot for the application of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, which sees the procurement being run at an earlier stage than previous Sellafield Ltd manufactured product procurements. This approach is to enable manufacturer’s input into the final product design and specification, benefitting Sellafield Ltd by ensuring repeatable manufacture at the right quality, cost, and rate.

two.2.14) Additional information
