Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) is looking to better understand the existing marketplace for Concrete and Asphalt to inform its decision making regarding future procurement activities. As part of this WCBC is seeking to identify suitable suppliers who are able to supply the required concrete and / or asphalt while also being able to comply with delivery and collection requirements.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) currently utilises a number of suppliers to source various types of concrete and asphalt in support of in-house reactive highways repairs. This asphalt and concrete is either delivered directly to WCBC offices or collected by WCBC staff directly from the supplier.

Going forward WCBC is looking to review current arrangements and better understand the existing marketplace to inform its decision making process. As part of this WCBC is seeking to identify suitable suppliers who are able to supply the required concrete and / or asphalt while also being able to comply with delivery and collection requirements.

If any suppliers believe they can meet all or part of WCBC’s requirements, please email procurement@wrexham.gov.uk outlining the highways surfacing material you can provide and the postcode for potential collection. Please respond by 22nd December 2023.

Please note that this is not an Invitation to Tender or an offer of contract so no pricing information is required at this stage, this is only an information gathering exercise which, subject to responses received, will influence procurement decisions going forward.

Concrete

Asphalt

- AC6 close surf 100/150 min. 55PSV.

- AC10 close surf 100/150 min. 55PSV.

Estimated yearly quantities

- 2,000 tonne for asphalt

- 500 cubic meters for concrete

Collection

- A supplier’s collection point must be within a 90-minute total journey time, 45 minutes each way, from WCBC’s Abbey Road offices (LL13 9PW).
