Islington Council is committed to early intervention and prevention and in 2023 published Fairer Together – a strategy for early intervention and prevention. In Islington, we see early intervention and prevention as: proactive not reactive, focused on building capacity and relationships, joined up, rooted in communities and reducing the need for crisis or statutory services.

Islington Adult Social Care’s vision is for the borough to be a place made up of strong, inclusive and connected communities, where regardless of background, people have fair and equal access to adult social care support that enables residents to live healthy, fulfilling and independent lives. This service will align with Adult Social Care’s operating model by proactively taking all opportunities to build on people's strengths, maximise their independence and connecting them with their community, ensuring equality and fairness throughout.

In the coming months, Islington Council will be conducting a procurement exercise to recommission the Mental Health Recovery Pathway which will provide a comprehensive proactive mental health early intervention and prevention offer for adults in Islington. Practical and emotional wellbeing, recovery-focused support will be delivered through a range of community interventions. The new service will enhance opportunities for building resilience to reduce or prevent escalation of needs, supporting people to self-manage conditions and live well in the community.

The council’s ambition is for this service to be delivered through a strengthened partnership approach, whereby partners collaborate to deliver a holistic and varied service offer.

Islington Council invites any interested organisations to attend an online market engagement event to develop the council’s ambitions for the Mental Health Recovery Pathway.

This event which will be held on MS Teams on 13 December from 11.00am – 12.00pm will provide:

• Information on our vision for the new service

• Timeline for the tender process

• Opportunities for networking

Please contact Mhcommissioning@islington.gov.uk to express interest in attending.

This is not an invitation to tender nor does it preclude or favour eligibility to participate in the formal procurement once it starts. It is a process solely to test the current market capacity, to scope the services, engage with a wide range of stakeholders and inform the procurement process.

Details in this PIN are subject to being updated or changed in the final contract notice.

The council reserves the right to cancel, postpone, suspend or abort this procurement at any stage. The issue of this PIN in no way commits the council to commence the procurement process.

The contract notice will be published on the e-tendering system used by Islington Council, the London Tenders Portal (ProContract). We would advise you to register on the e-tendering system now in order that you receive an email alert when the contract notice is published.
