Scope

Description

His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) currently operates 27 industrial laundries across prisons in England and Wales, as well as 7 smaller launderettes dedicated to processing prisoners' personal clothing. These facilities are critical to maintaining hygiene standards and decency within our estate.

We are preparing to issue a new tender for the supply of laundry chemicals across our estate. In advance of this, we wish to engage with the supplier market to ensure our proposed approach is robust, commercially viable, and conducive to encouraging broad supplier participation.

The purpose of this engagement is to:

Share our initial thinking on the scope, structure, and requirements of the upcoming tender.

Gather supplier feedback on the viability and attractiveness of our proposed procurement strategy.

Identify any barriers to participation and discuss how these might be mitigated.

Invite innovative suggestions that could improve service quality, sustainability, or value for money.
