Kent County Council (KCC) wishes to enter into a contract for the collection, reception, processing and disposal of Clinical arising from Kent’s household kerbside collections.

The Service Provider will accept and process as a minimum the following materials:

-Cytotoxic & Cytostatic, containing medicines that are radioactive

-Infectious, contaminated with chemicals or medicines

-Infectious, soiled dressings or swabs with visible signs of blood that may be infected

-Offensive waste, dressings, swabs, incontinence pads, or disposable clothing

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Kent County Council (KCC) wishes to enter into a contract for the collection, reception, processing and disposal of Clinical arising from Kent’s household kerbside collections.

The Service Provider will accept and process as a minimum the following materials:

-Cytotoxic & Cytostatic, containing medicines that are radioactive

-Infectious, contaminated with chemicals or medicines

-Infectious, soiled dressings or swabs with visible signs of blood that may be infected

-Offensive waste, dressings, swabs, incontinence pads, or disposable clothing

The Facility must have a valid and appropriate planning permission, environmental and other relevant permits including the relevant technical competencies for the type and amount of waste to be handled under this Contract and otherwise all permissions and certification required for the performance of this Contract.

The Service Provider must adhere to all current UK and EU legislation including but not restricted to the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Health & Safety Act 1974.

The total solution capacity should cater for, in the region of 415 tonnes per annum but this is not warranted, nor is it an indication of future tonnage. Please refer to the specification for a breakdown of the tonnage by materials.

The Contract will be for an initial period of 36 months, with the option to extend for a further 12 months.
