BEIS is responsible for the liabilities of the former British Coal Corporation (BCC) under the Coal Industry Act 1994 and are looking to procure a service provider who can manage group litigations, individual case litigation and claimsfor compensation, including the Coal Industry Pneumoconiosis Scheme, against BEIS, on behalf of the former BCC

BEIS is responsible for the liabilities of the former British Coal Corporation under the Coal Industry Act 1994. BEIS requires a service provider to manage group litigation, individual case litigation and claims for compensation against BEIS, on behalf of the former BCC. These are personal injury claims in relation to industrial diseases or injuries suchas Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mesothelioma, asbestosis, pleural plaques (in Scotland), pleuralthickening, lung cancer, skin cancers, vibration white finger and deafness. In addition the service provider will be required to manage the Coal Industry Pneumoconiosis Compensation Scheme (CIPCS).
