two.1.4) Short description
As a Waste Disposal Authority (WDA), DCC is responsible for the disposal of waste collected by the District Councils of Devon and is actively seeking new ways of reducing the amount of waste produced by Devon residents. This tendering process will appoint a suitably experienced contractor to deliver community engagement work in an agreed area(s) of Devon to encourage and support communities to set up and run their own community engagement activities which actively help to reduce, reuse, repair, recycle and/or compost waste from their community.
The Contractor will be expected to continue to build on the existing work and deliver the CAG Devon Project in a targeted manner across the whole administrative area of Devon. Collaboration with other organisations and networks in Devon (where appropriate) is expected to play an important part of service delivery to ensure community groups are supported in a joined-up manner, avoiding duplication of service.
The community engagement work carried out under the Contract will support the aims and objectives of the following strategic plans: -
· DCC Strategic Plan 2021 to 2025
· Resource and Waste Management Strategy for Devon and Torbay 2020 - 2030 -
Waste and Recycling
· Devon Carbon Plan – Devon Climate Emergency
· Public Health Strategy and Business Plan 2023 - 2025
