The Care Act 2014 requires local authorities to promote diversity and quality in provision of services to meet the support needs of their local population. Wandsworth Council currently offers a range of day opportunities for older people, adults with dementia, and people with physical and sensory disabilities.

A strategic service review completed in 2019 proposed a new fluid and flexible community-based day opportunities offer that provides support for older people across all levels of need. Consistent with this approach is an offer that enables older people with eligible needs to access a range of support beyond building-based services.
