The NHS Mid Essex Talking Therapies service (previously known as IAPT), delivered by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), is procuring a new service that will promote and embed employment support. This is part of a large-scale initiative by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to increase the employment support within NHS Talking Therapies.
HPFT is seeking providers who have proven previous NHS experience of supporting people into vocational/employment activities who have used a mental health service.
There is an expectation that the successful provider will commence the service from April 2024 with the contract initially running to March 2025 in line with DWP funding. There is an option to extend the contract pending confirmation of funding beyond March 2025. The maximum financial envelope for the service is £280k p/a.

Six (6) Employment Advisors (EAs) and one (1) Senior EA will provide practical advice and relevant interventions to assist clients to gain, return to or retain employment. EAs will work closely with NHS Mid Essex Talking Therapy clinicians to provide employment support to people with common mental health problems who are struggling at work, off sick from work or looking to find work.
This initiative is to ensure that Talking Therapies services are able to offer a combined package of psychological therapy and employment support to all Talking Therapies clients who need it & clients that do not require psychological treatment and only require employment support should be referred onto other employment support provision outside Talking Therapies. The Trust is looking for a company which has worked with Talking Therapy services and have experience with clients that are experiencing mild-moderate mental health issues.
HPFT is seeking to work with a partner organisation that can bring this knowledge and expertise and work within and alongside the NHS Mid Essex Talking Therapies Service.
