two.1.4) Short description

As part of the Dstl adsorbent material analysis capability, there is a requirement to acquire new analytical equipment. This desired expansion includes two pieces of equipment:

• A Microscale Breakthrough Analyser

o A piece of equipment capable of analysing breakthrough of hazardous vapours against adsorbent materials, and monitor the effluent concentrations of Hazards.

o This testing is a key part in the understanding of adsorbent properties of materials against Chemical warfare agents and Toxic industrial chemicals.

o As such, it supports and expands upon the micro-scale analysis capability.

• A Dynamic Vapour Sorption Unit (DVS)

o A piece of equipment designed to analyse adsorbent materials, determining their gravometric properties during exposure to contaminated airstreams.

o This determines the adsorbent properties of the materials, as is necessary for our micro-scale analysis capability.
