WithTo allow a direct award to Seymour Engineering for a continued Maintenance and repair of a milling machine that is a crucial machine to support the maintenance of Nuclear fuel flasks as stated in the Seymour quotes for this work. The B39 facility require this machine to be available for use at all times for machining operations that any of the fleet of fuel flasks may require in their maintenance process. The flasks have to be maintained within time periods stated within the licensing certification as directed by the regulator for the use of transporting Nuclear fuel to and from power stations within the UK. Seymour Engineering have in the past years been recognised by all B39 Management as the experts of this machine. An SL project around 15 years ago engaged the services of Seymour to extensively refurbish and modify by fitting a Heidenhein aid system for more accurate measurement of the machining process on this Milling Machine. This machine is a complexed and unique machine as recognised over the years with no other companies recognised to take on the maintence as with the added problem of it now being dated and sufferring obsolecense especially around the supply or repair of spare parts where Seymours have so far proven to be strong in this crucial area.Justification for the uplift is for Seymours to supply and deliver 2 x accumlators for the Elgamill to allow the machine to be fully operational which is crucial to the plant and flask maintenance programmes. This is for the annual service of the B39 Elgamill. The contract will provide for 4 scheduled service visits a year, 3 quarterly, short, services and 1 annual, long, service. This requirement has been outlined in Sellafield document SLF 1.08.08.01 (Issue 2). The aim is to carry out work at frequent intervals in smaller time frames, providing for the full annual service requirement whilst also providing the ability to impose a Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) regime for the machine.
