Under the terms of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, local authorities are responsible for improving the health of their local population and the commissioning of public health services for children and young people 0 to 19 years.

Ensuring every child has the best start in life is one of the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, OHID’s (formerly PHE) key priorities. Best Start in Life has been identified as a priority within the national 5-year strategy, which runs from 2020 to 2025.

Enabling a healthier start in life is also one of the priorities in the Council’s pledge ‘Our residents live healthy, happy and independent lives’, in Warrington’s Corporate Strategy 2022-2024.

The Council is seeking an experienced and innovative Provider to lead, co-ordinate and deliver Warrington’s Healthy Child Programme 0-19 Service (up to 25 with SEND), with an effective skill mix team and specialist posts; to improve health, wellbeing and resilience and reduce the gap in child health and maternity outcomes.

The contract will initially be for a period of 5 years with a possible extension of a further 2 years.
