UKAEA is seeking a supplier to provide a vacuum storage solution as part of the Lithium Corrosion Rig project.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The requirement is for the detailed design and construction of one simple to operate vacuum storage solution to hold bulk lithium material, and lithiated samples. The complete vacuum storage system is required to include vacuum chambers, pipework, pump, pressure gauges and controls, and has the following specification:

4.1. Comprise of a minimum of one storage chamber consisting of an approximately 16” (inch) cube, preferably two chambers.

4.2. Chamber to contain shelving, with the minimum use of plastics.

4.3. System to be capable of holding a 0.1-10 millibar pressure.

4.4. Have vacuum chambers comprised of solid stainless steel to minimise lithium incompatibility.

4.5. No aluminium components in the chamber, and minimum use of plastics throughout.

4.6. Include all fittings, pipework, valves, and appropriate pump.

4.7. Preferably mounted to frame or enclosure.

The supplier will be required to deliver the storage solution to UKAEA, including all design documentation, manuals, and certification of conformity, by 31st March 2024.
