Peel Ports owns and operates six of the UK’s most important ports (Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway (Sheerness / Chatham), Clydeport (Greenock, Hunterston, Ardrossan) and Great Yarmouth). It also operates a container terminal in Dublin.

In relation to the Port of Liverpool, the port’s central location means that multimodal connection services via road and rail enable cargo to get where it needs to be via the most efficient route possible.

To further improve the port's infrastructure, The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company will shortly be launching a competitive tender process for the award of a design and build contract to upgrade the T1 Railhead at the Port of Liverpool.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The aim of this periodic indicative notice is to give advance notice of the upcoming procurement prior to the release of the contract notice which is due early December 2022. Contractors are invited to provide early expressions of interest in relation to this opportunity.

It is proposed that the scope shall be for the Contractor to be responsible for the design and construction of the following:

• Extend 3 number rail tracks and rail yard from 400m to 800m

• Realignment and diversion of 400m of existing road and the movement of the rail crossing over that road

• Surfacing, drainage and services to be installed
