Description
Greater Manchester Combined Authority is seeking an organisation to undertake a research project focusing on road safety through a gendered lens to explore the unique barriers confronting women as road users.
The research project is seeking to explore the inequalities faced by women road users (in vehicles, as drivers and passengers, as pedestrians, on two wheels) and the challenges they face around the current and future use of roads and to identify ways to improve safety and confidence for women road users and help reduce women killed and seriously injured on the road.
There are current data gaps about the gendered breakdown of the profile of people involved in road traffic collisions, the impact on their behaviour, ongoing and future confidence of road users, specifically women both younger and older.
The research project would seek to identify ways to address these issues informed by the direct experience of women road users in Greater Manchester.
Detailed research and data collection will be carried out, to understand the experiences of women road users, identify areas of Greater Manchester that are less safe for women road users and the effects of road traffic collisions on driving on women road users.
