Section four. Procedure

four.1) Description

four.1.1) Type of procedure

Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the cases listed below

  • The services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason:
    • absence of competition for technical reasons

Explanation:

UKRI needs to upgrade the existing Trox infrastructure (at the LMB)with the latest technology. Since the infrastructure is already built and maintained by Trox, it is technically complex and disproportionately expensive to replace it with another system. Trox are the sole provider of the identified requirement due to the proprietary nature of the existing infrastructure, especially in specialist labs. Using Trox directly avoids the risk of technical incompatibilities and ensures continuity in the technology.
