two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Yorkshire Water Services Limited ("YWS") is seeking to increase sludge treatment capacity at its Knostrop sludge treatment centre ("STC") in Leeds.

As the largest YWS STC, Knostrop currently treats c.30,000 tons dry solids (TDS) of sewage sludge annually, producing c.15 million normal cubic metres (Nm3) of biogas which is presently used in combined heat and power ("CHP") engines. From 2025 it is anticipated that the generated biogas will instead be upgraded and injected into the gas distribution network via a third party facility.
