To deliver a high quality, effective, efficient, accessible and innovative Oral health promotion and prevention service with the aims of improving oral health and reducing oral health inequalities in the population of London Borough of Hackney and the City of London.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The new service aims to achieve following strategic outcomes:

Reduction in the incidence and prevalence of decayed, missing and filled teeth in children and vulnerable adults

Reduction in the number of children being admitted to hospital for dental caries and the number admitted for tooth extractions

Reduction in oral health inequalities

The service provision is focused on:

1. Early Years and Primary schools including (but not limited to):

Application of Fluoride Varnish annually each to children in mainstream and Orthodox Jewish primary schools

Targeted oral health promotion amongst the Orthodox Jewish communities to be delivered by Orthodox Jewish organisations.

Distribution of fluoride toothpaste and Brushing for Life packs amongst children

Training of workforce and awareness workshops with parents/carers.

2. Older and vulnerable people including those with learning disabilities, mental health problems, substance misuse problems and homeless.

Distribution of fluoride toothpastes and Brushing for Life packs amongst older and vulnerable adults.

Supporting care homes in the implementation of Oral health Care homes NICE Quality Standard QS151.

3. Using the Making Every Contact Count approach and integrating oral health within 0-25 services; vulnerable and older adults’ services commissioned by Hackney and City.
