University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its requirement for a Cellular Pathology Managed Service.

Suppliers who are able to offer solutions relevant to this requirement are invited to express an interest and attend a presentation day. Further details on how to do this are contained within the additional information section of this notice.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Cellular Pathology Service at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust is currently situated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Heartlands Hospital site, where samples are processed from all UHB locations.

Cellular Pathology at both sites provides a comprehensive diagnostic service to internal users, as well as a variety of external users such as GP’s, none UHB hospitals and some private organisations. The Department processes approximately 100,000 requests a year, the results of which are used for diagnostic and monitoring purposes and in conjunction with other clinical information to direct treatment.

This exercise is intended to provide potential bidders with the opportunity to review the Authority's Briefing Document and to provide information regarding the services they can offer that could meet these outline requirements. This builds on the Authority's commitment to engage with the market, by sharing information and seeking input from the market to enable us to develop the final specification and determine the appropriate route to market in a fair and transparent manner.
