two.1.4) Short description
This is an exciting tender opportunity and is provided by Herefordshire Council who is looking for a new Waste Collection Contractor to provide household and commercial waste collections across the county.
We are particularly interested in developing bold and innovative approaches to service delivery, that both respond to the climate emergency by exploring low carbon options and ensure that residents are placed at the heart of service design and delivery; to compliment these objectives we are seeking an equally dedicated service provider who will work with the council to help deliver our ambitions.
Herefordshire is located in the West Midlands of England, bordering with Wales, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. It is a predominantly rural county with around 95% of the county classified as such. It has the third lowest population density of any English county (89 people per square kilometre) with large areas of picturesque and relatively unspoilt countryside. From 2024 there will be approximately 89000 residential households and 2100 commercial properties.
Herefordshire Council adopted an ambitious new Integrated Waste Management Strategy in July 2021 with far reaching targets to increase recycling and reuse and to end waste going to landfill. Our collection model ambition will see new collection services and provide increased recycling capacity for residents whilst reducing the frequency of collection for residual waste.
The Council welcomes submissions from all appropriate suppliers and the tender documentation can be accessed via our e-tender portal at www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk (search under Herefordshire Council)
