two.1.4) Short description

The Trust operates the Lane Fox respiratory unit at St Thomas' Hospital, London, a tertiary care referral centre for the management of chronic respiratory failure. The Trust has a requirement for community based step down facilities from the Lane Fox respiratory unit to increase capacity and support patient recovery by bring patients closer to home. Specifically, the step down facility will provide highly specialised satellite respiratory services for ventilated patients (invasive mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation) for mainly single organ failure patients.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The provision of a satellite unit which provides:
A) Inpatient Facility for twenty Patient beds, seminar room for fifteen (15) people, a gym area of more than fifty square meters sqm. Outpatient Facility for three examination rooms;
B) Facility management services to the Inpatient Facility, and as appropriate the Outpatient Facility;
C) Outpatient Facility services and administration support;
D) Managed equipment service, including the supply, maintenance and replacement of all fixed and mobile items of Equipment;
E) The arrangement of transportation of ventilator dependent Patients;
F) Nursing and healthcare assistant staff to provide and manage the clinical services required by the Patients admitted to the Facility, to work under clinical oversight of the Trust's senior clinicians and based on a staff to Patient ratio of one nurse or healthcare assistant staff member for two Patients (1:2).
The current contract was awarded in 2013 for ten years and expires August 2023.
The Facility is currently located on the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust site at Redhill.
Potential option to expand scope of the Contract to open an additional satellite unit to support Harefield Hospital and provide home care services.
For the new contract the Trust is looking to develop digital and AI tools to support patient care including real-time patient monitoring, reporting, and analysis.
