This notice is for the purpose of informing potential suppliers of the intended procurement of a service to provide Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft to facilitate Live and Dry Terminal Attack Control training by UK Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs).
JTACs are an essential element in Air Land Integration, enabling commanders to effectively employ Air launched weapons in Close Air Support (CAS) of ground forces. To sustain the number of operationally capable JTACs required by the UK Ministry of Defence, its JTACs are required to undertake individual training in accordance with internationally agreed standards and UK policies. This training requires a crewed fixed-wing aircraft capable of emulating current in-service CAS aircraft, conducting both ‘Live’ (i.e., with weapon release) and ‘Dry’ (without weapons) attacks under control of the JTAC by both day and night.
We are looking to hear from companies that can commit to:
• Delivery of up to 350 flying hours ‘on task’ (i.e., excluding transit between operating base and training areas) per annum.
• Up to 880 live and 120 dry controls per annum at a rate of up to 25 individual ‘controls’ per day with a maximum of 3 controls simultaneously.
• Commencing training in Summer 2022.
The service may be provided either in the UK or elsewhere, subject to the contractor being able to satisfy any legal and/or regulatory requirements stipulated by the host nation (e.g., UK Air Navigation Order or international equivalents).
