The Renal Medicine Service at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is currently situated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH).
The Renal Service provides a full range of renal services including hospital haemodialysis, home haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and care for transplant recipients. The service also provides a general nephrology service for the investigation and treatment of renal disease and a full range of treatments for people with acute kidney injury.

The Renal Service provides a full range of renal services including hospital haemodialysis, home haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and care for transplant recipients. The service also provides a general nephrology service for the investigation and treatment of renal disease and a full range of treatments for people with acute kidney injury.
UHBFT haemodialysis programme is one of the largest programmes in the UK and is nationally recognised as leading the way in terms of clinical quality and patient experience. UHBFT is responsible for 15 haemodialysis units treating approximately 1300 patients. The haemodialysis programme anticipated growth is approximately 3%.
The UHB Haemodialysis programme is provided through 2 ‘in centre’ units and 13 satellite units. The 13 satellite units are currently provided via private contract, subsidiary and NHS provision.
