two.1.4) Short description

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) are looking for a business to invest in the construction of ten high pressure vessels to be installed on Tees Works land for use during our Redcar Hydrogen Community project.

NGN will agree lease terms for a 3-year period after which the successful party will have the option for the assets to remain on site and the lease assigned over or remove and repurpose them for future use.

NGN have a detailed design for the pressure vessels and are currently designing options for future proofing the asset.

The successful party will become a key partner in the UK's first ever hydrogen village where the project will provide hydrogen to heat around 2,000 homes and business in Redcar.

Interested parties need to have experience in procuring, constructing and operating high pressure vessels and be willing to invest in the construction of these assets and lease them back to the project.

This Contract Notice is the first stage of a multistage procurement process which will seek to identify a suitable supplier to provide an above ground storage solution for this ground-breaking, high-profile project.

Hydrogen Storage is key to allow for daily usage fluctuations.

NGN are exploring the option of having above ground high pressure storage tanks (in the form of "Bullets") to store approximately 10 tonnes of Hydrogen.

The scope broadly comprises.

• Provision of 10 off 35bar pressure vessels

• Provision of a G17 approved and appraised civil design pack for piling foundations, concrete bases and vessel pipe supports (G17 to be issued to NGN)

• Construction of piling foundations, concrete bases and vessel pipe supports (inc' submission of all relevant management plans)

• Handover of as-built drawings, H&S File and G17 Part D and E forms

• Any statutory vessel maintenance and inspections (if required during the HVT period)

• Provision of a programme of works

Should you wish to participate further in this procurement event please email achristophers@northerngas.co.uk in the first instance.
