The course currently offers the first qualification of its type in the UK and worldwide. It was developed by the RCP and the University of London is the awarding body. The key aims of the course are:
i) To train the next generation of clinical leaders / skilled healthcare professionals to deliver high quality patient care in gender identity healthcare in adult services due to new delivery models of care and increasing patient demand.

ii) To support the development of gender identity health services provided by the NHS.
