Historically the Defence Medical Services have seconded military students (based at the Defence Medical School, Lichfield) to NHS Trusts based within 1 hour of Lichfield to undertake the Pharmacy Technician training. These students are returned to the Services fully trained and licenced to practise.

The new requirement will be for similar model of secondment to the NHS Trusts, within 1 hour of Lichfield. The NHS Trust will be expected to provide on the job training, End Point Assessment (including the L3 Pharmacy qualification), and; licence to practice. The students shall then return to DMS as qualified apprentices.

NHS Trusts wishing to tender for the opportunity to deliver to the Services must be registered as a Main Provider when tendering for this opportunity. Failure to register as a Main Provider shall result in a submitted Tender being non-compliant.
