The purpose of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to alert potential suppliers to an opportunity for future services for auctioning unclaimed lost property.
It is a market awareness exercise to share information on a potential procurement, to engage with the market on the scope and approach; and to enable TfL to determine the detailed design of the procurement and commercial process.
The purpose is to test the market's capacity and capability to deliver the requirement, consider if any changes to the requirement would increase market appetite whilst still delivering the capabilities needed, and to generate market interest.
This activity is focusing on the market, rather than the merits of individual suppliers. It includes no element of supplier selection or bid evaluation. There is no commitment of any kind inferred by either party.

About the LPO:
The Lost Property Office (LPO) is the largest of its kind in Europe.
It recovers more than 200,000 items each year across London's vast transport network.
To accommodate the growing scale of TfL's Lost Property Office and improve how quickly lost items can be processed and recorded customers are encouraged to first try to locate missing items at the location that they were lost. Items that remain missing are sent to LPO.
Items are kept for three months, after which ownership is transferred over to Transport for London (TfL). All personal or sensitive data on items (such as phones or cameras) is removed and securely destroyed.
Items are then either donated to charity, recycled, disposed of or anonymously sold at various auctions. All money gained gets fed back into the lost property process, contributing to labour and handling costs.
The LPO are seeking to partner with auctioneer(s) to effectively market, promote and maximise sale value of unclaimed lost items.
