We require an organisation with genomic and health visiting expertise and knowledge to work with the GEP on:
• The development of additional educational resources to support learning. It was clear from the previous evaluation that whilst there has been a shift in confidence, translating this into health visiting practice requires greater support and learning opportunities for this area of the workforce.
• Identifying and implementing opportunities for ongoing learning in practice to sustain workforce development. This could be the use of clinical supervision, refresh sessions and case studies but we are open to other proposals.
• Building on previous work and introducing new approaches to maximise awareness among health visitors in the United Kingdom. Consideration should be given to how education and training resources can be promoted and disseminated, consulting with other organisations who have potential to reach this area of the workforce.
• Scoping a sustainable education and training model for future development of the health visitor workforce in genomics.
