Bridgend County Borough Council is awarding a Telecare/Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Equipment Installations, Maintenance and Removals Service for eligible Individuals within Bridgend unitary authority area to support individuals to continue to lead fulfilled lives and live independently within Bridgend unitary authority.
Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with the Health Board consider telecare/technology enabled care equipment and similar assistive technologies as a key aspect of its prevention and wellbeing strategy and will continue to play a central role in helping strengthen support for those individuals wishing to live more independently. In order to support this agenda, the Council, working in partnership with the Health Board, have increasingly invested in assistive technologies (and associated services) so that it may strengthen choice, control and independence of people living in the borough. The Service is considered central to this ongoing agenda and remains central to the success of the Council and the Health Board’s prevention and wellbeing strategy which encompasses independent living in the borough.
Bridgend County Borough Council are committed to securing quality provision and wishes to appoint one provider that has demonstrated they have the proven experience of installing, maintaining and removing Telecare/TEC equipment to and from the homes of people with social care or health support needs. The successful organisation will have staff that include certified Trusted Assessors. The Trusted Assessor role is vital to the success of this Service in the provision of assessing people appropriately for Telecare/TEC Equipment.
During the Agreement Period of this Service, the Council will be updating to utilise digital Telecare/TEC Equipment and also utilise a digital network connection in the homes of individuals under this service, and, should the Council require, the successful provider will be instructed to undertake a replacement programme for the Telecare/TEC Equipment and connections installed in the homes of individual’s in Bridgend as described in the specification.
The successful provider will also have adequately demonstrated they have the skills, experience and understanding of undertaking this work in a social care environment, and in particular to people who may be regarded as vulnerable, including older people and people with complex needs.
The Agreement will be for a period of 3 years from the Commencement Date, with an option to extend up to a further 36 months should the Council wish to exercise this option.
The contract is expected to commence during November 2022.
