two.2.4) Description of the procurement
NRW is carrying out pre-tender market engagement with contractors interested in supplying UXO surveying and risk mitigation services. The procurement will be for an all-Wales framework agreement to support the delivery of various large scale projects including LIFE Quake, Dynamic Dunscapes and Nature Networks.
The scope of works is likely to include unexploded ordnance (UXO) surveying and risk mitigation services including excavation and disposal.
Services may be required on multiple large scale conservation projects across Wales. Sites could be a range of terrains including but not limited to bogs, sand dunes, marshland and will typically be sensitive sites (NNRs, SSSIs or SACs).
Typically conservation work will include ground penetration work including erecting fence lines for managed grazing, installation of dip wells and groundworks.
Many sites will be on 3rd party owned land and may have challenging access and other site constraints.
A range of techniques will have to be employed in surveying including but not limited to drones, hand held magnetometers, peat probes.

C. Controlled excavation and disposal of UXO (call out)
D. Demolition disposal of live non-air-dropped UXO less than 105mm.
E. Disposal of FFE Ordnance Related scrap free from explosive hazard, if over 100kg.
NRW will be holding an open period for pre-tender market engagement between 9th October to 30th October 2023. Interested suppliers are encouraged to get in touch to discuss the opportunity.
