Reference number

DN583184

two.1.2) Main CPV code

  • 38120000 - Meteorological instruments

two.1.3) Type of contract

Supplies

two.1.4) Short description

You are invited to submit a Tender to supply profiling floats for ocean data collection.

The Met Office wishes to place a Framework Agreement to cover the following Lots:

Lot 1 - Standard floats with Iridium communications

Lot 2 - Iridium Floats with Bio-Geochemical Sensors

Suppliers may submit bids for one, or both Lots.

two.1.6) Information about lots

This contract is divided into lots: Yes

Tenders may be submitted for all lots

Maximum number of lots that may be awarded to one tenderer: 2

The contracting authority reserves the right to award contracts combining the following lots or groups of lots:

Lot 1 - Standard floats with Iridium communications

Lot 2 - Iridium Floats with Bio-Geochemical Sensors

The Met Office reserves the right to award a single supplier with contracts for one or both Lots where that supplier has provided the strongest bids in accordance with evaluation criteria.

Where one supplier is awarded a contract on more than one Lot, the Met Office reserves the right to combine the supply of those Lots into a single agreement.

two.2) Description

  • UKJ32 - Southampton

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The floats must carry proven temperature, salinity and pressure sensors that meet the following standards. The temperatures are accurate to ±0.002°C and pressures are accurate to ±2.4dbar. For salinity, the data delivered in real time are sometimes affected by sensor drift, for many floats this drift is small and the uncorrected salinities are accurate to ±0.01 psu. (At a later stage, salinities are checked by comparing older floats with newly deployed instruments and ship-based data, where salinity drifts may be corrected for.)

The data must be transmitted with at least the following resolution 0.001 °C in temperature, 0.001 in salinity and 0.1 dbar in pressure.
