Carmarthenshire County Council is commissioning the Framework for the provision of Verge Mowing including strimming work.

To promote the opportunities available to providers Carmarthenshire is holding an online market briefing session via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 7th December 2pm – 4pm. The briefing session will provide an overview of the new Framework as well as detail on the service specification and tender process which is expected to be live in December 2021. Business Wales will also be in attendance to explain the tendering advice and support they offer.

VI.3) Additional information

This specification is for the cutting by mechanical means of highway grass verges on County Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and unclassified Roads in the County of Carmarthenshire. For the purpose of this tender the county has been divided into geographical areas known as "beats" as shown on the attached plans. There are 20 No. beat areas in total.

There may be a requirement to undertake cutting work on the trunk road network, but this work will be paid for at the hourly rate inserted in the schedule.

Tenderers may tender for one or more of the beat areas, but the Engineer will require to be satisfied as to the tenderers resources and performance ability before awarding the work. At least one mower must be available for each beat tendered. Experience in undertaking this type of work on a public highway is a requirement of this contract. Final allocation of work / beat areas will be decided by the Engineer based on resource availability on a countywide basis and the Engineer’s decision is final.
