two.2.4) Description of the procurement

In partnership with the English Football League (EFL) Trust and UK International Soccer (UKIS), USW Sport deliver 60% of its undergraduate provision (over 800 students) via the blended learning mode. This mode enables students to combine online study of high-quality learning materials hosted on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) platform with face to face in situ visits to USW Sport Park.

Students studying a course in partnership with the EFL Trust are based at one of 50 football club Community Trust Initiatives (CTI) throughout England or Wales. Here, students undertake their learning through watching high quality learning materials facilitated by a club mentor. This theory is then put into practice through meaningful work-based learning opportunities provided by the CTI. The following courses are delivered in partnership with the EFL Trust:

- FD Community Football Coaching and Development (August start) (CL - Bobby Briers)

- BSc Community Football Coaching and Administration (Top Up) (September start) (Robyn Pinder)

- FD Sports Coaching and Development (August start) (Chris Emsley)

- BSc Sports Coaching and Development (Top Up) (September start) (Chris Emsley)

Students enrolled on the BSc Football Coaching, Development and Administration (January start) (Rachel Murray) spend 9 months of the year based in the USA undertaking a soccer coaching placement with UKIS. They also study most of their learning materials via the VLE through weekly online recorded lectures. This material is complimented by the support of personal tutors ensuring learners remain engaged.

Students enrolled on the above courses undertake most of their learning and assessment remotely (either based at a Professional Football Club in the UK or in the US) allowing them to implement theory into practice on a daily and weekly basis through meaningful work placements opportunities.

This remote learning is complemented through termly visits to USW Sport Park to undertake course inductions and practical coaching assessments. At the beginning of their course, cohorts are welcomed to USW for their induction. Here, students undertake introduction to modules and are also taken through important information required to be successful in their studies. Students then visit in smaller groups during term 2 to undertake practical coaching assessments.

These visits to USW Sport Park are an integral element to the above degree courses and allow students from multiple locations to come together and build communities of practice. Recent research has also illustrated that these visits are instrumental in building confidence in learners.

Hotel accommodation is required to support the students in delivering the above sports coaching.
