The project requires the provision of a tidal turbine, to be fitted to the existing gravity-based foundation. This foundation will be retrieved in late 2021 and refurbished to accommodate a new horizontal axis turbine. The horizontal axis turbine should be rated no more than 500Kw and available by the end of March 2022. Initial design investigations, coupled with the consents available at the site have indicated that a horizontal axis turbine which is compatible with both the existing subsea base and consents will be the preferred solution.
