two.1.4) Short description

Derry City and Strabane District Council invite suppliers to tender for PeacePlus Art: Recovery to Discovery. This project is an adult focused, mental health, community arts programme with the aim of building stronger community relations in shared spaces and places which have the potential to become more shared. It will utilise the active engagement in Community Arts as a vehicle to introducing marginalised isolated adults from all backgrounds to new and welcoming shared spaces. Those spaces must include a key focus on the Ballyarnett geographical area. The programme of arts workshops will develop new skills and interests and forge new friendships, whilst building peace and bringing communities together in a post Covid/conflict era. The programme will aim to support participants and communities to build friendships, benefit from peace and celebrate cultural diversity together. The programme will use a range of different community arts practices. These may include, for example visual arts, painting, drawing, photography, crafts, dance, music, drama, film, creative writing or any other relevant art form. Participants will work in cross-community groups to develop new friendships and new skills. The programme must be delivered in a suitable venue(s) allowing participants from all communities to come together within a creative environment. The programme should include opportunity for participants to learn about and use cultural expression to directly challenge stereotypes, prejudice, or any aspects which have led to divisions within and/or between communities and identities. Arising from the Co-design process in the Ballyarnett District Electoral Area (DEA), this project should strive to bring key benefit to that area as well as reaching out to participants from other areas to bring relevant cross-community engagement and participation. The project is also welcome to engage cross-border and it is noted that this DEA is directly adjacent to Donegal. This project is under the Thriving and Peaceful Communities Theme. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail.
