two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Quarantine and Routine Health Monitoring. Quarantine covers direct sampling of quarantined animals (serology, faeces, fur and oral swabs) for periodic FELASA screens. Routine Health Monitoring traditionally consists of serologic panels, pathology, parasitology, and microbiology. We are keen to explore alternative methods in line with the 3Rs: Replace, Reduce and Refine, e.g. sentinel remote sampling (serology and PCR); colony animal remote sampling; exhaust air dust / PCR environmental screening (EAD); and a multisampling approach combining these options. The successful bidders for this contract will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of an optimum health monitoring programme that address the 3Rs mentioned above.
