two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Provision of the annual, 5 and 10 yearly overhauls to the Thames Barrier Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply Devices (DRUPS) for DRUPS 1 and 2, that were manufactured and installed by Hitzinger UK Ltd. This includes annual monthly planned preventative maintenance, two 5 year on site kinetic overhauls and two 10 Year Alternator and Kinetic Module Overhauls, their Radiator Clean and Coolant Change and a 10 year change of friction facings.

An initial contract will be let for 5 years 16th November 2021 to 15th November 2026, with an option to renew another 5 years, 16th November 2026 to 15th November 2031, and then with options to renew for further one year durations during the next 5 years, (16th November 2031 to 15th November 2032, 16th November 2032 to 15th November 2033, 16th November 2033 to 15th November 2034, 16th November 2034 to 15th November 2035 and 16th November 2035 to 15th November 2036).

If all contract extensions are taken up the final end date of the contract will be 15th November 2036.

The notice advises that the Environment Agency has decided to award a contract with the named provider on a direct award basis, and is published for reasons of transparency.

This is because there is no other party with the requisite knowledge or ability to maintain the existing DRUPS equipment power devices, one and two that were manufactured by Hitzinger UK Ltd and installed by the same company at the Environment Agency's Thames Barrier Site.
